Weekly Catch-up

Weekly Catch-up | July 24-31

Welcome to the catch-up post for the week of July 24th through the 31st! No vlog tonight due to messy hair (and terrible thunderstorm outside that has the animals freaking out,) but a written post should do just as well.

On Monday, July 25th, I posted my review on Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. It was a great sci-fi novel, but only managed to garner four stars from me due to reasons outlined in the spoiler vlog that accompanied the review the following day. Still, I say definitely check it out if you like alternate/multiverse stories and theories.

Tuesday, July 26th, I went to see a band I’ve loved for a LONG time, Mariana’s Trench. They were great, such an electric show. Amazed they sounded even better live than they do on their albums, but at the same time, weren’t wildly different from their cd sounds.

Friday, July 29th, no post due to my being out at an AWESOME 80s versus 90s party at The Cutting Room. Show featured the band Stifler’s Mom, who put on a CRAZY FANTASTIC show for two and a half hours straight! We were all sweating our faces off by the end of the night.

Saturday, July 30th, I finished the first seven chapters to Six of Crows for the Roadside Reads podcast. I’m brimming with excitement to talk about it, and continue reading on but have to wait until we record to do so. Needless to say, you fine folks should read along with us if you haven’t read it yet, and join our goodreads group to post up discussion topics, or vote on our next read!

I also finished reading The Reader, by Traci Chee. SO DAMN AMAZING I MIGHT HAVE CRIED. I MIGHT HAVE A MILLION FAVORITE QUOTES. I CANNOT WAIT TO REVIEW THIS IN SEPTEMBER! PRE-ORDER IT ASAP IF YOU LOVE BOOKS AND GOOD YA.

Sunday, July 31st, I finished reading Children of Icarus by Caighlan Smith, which comes out tomorrow, August 1st! My review of the book will be posted tomorrow as well, with a spoiler vlog to come out the following day most likely.

Expect to see the review for urban paranormal erotica story Dark Ink Tattoo by Cassie Alexander to finally go up on Friday, August 5th.

About to start reading Nevernight by Jay Kristoff which comes out August 9th. Can’t wait to really get into the book as I absolutely LOVE assassin stories, especially female orphan assassin stories!

Only one new book this week to report on, The Kraken Sea by E. Catherine Tobler. Very excited to begin that, probably after finishing The Sunlight Pilgrims by Jenni Fagan.

Oh, and as for the Roadside Reads podcast, still aiming for a debut date of Wednesday, but it might be delayed by a week. We’ll see!

Hope everyone out there is doing great and reading some wonderful things! As always, I’d love to hear about it!
